Plagiarism

What is plagiarism?

   Plagiarism refer to the act of taking an idea, writing or creation of person and proudly that it is the result of their own creation For example,  when someone read a newspaper, interested with any article in the newspaper and then they make a copy and paste at their social media without wrote the author's name. That is we call plagiarism.

Avoid plagiarism


Plagiarism agenda UiTM though police plagiarism. Manual plagiarism and guidelines.

Many students are unintentionally guilty og plagiarism when they write reports, assignments and research papers.For example, at UiTM, lecture will insert a student assignment paper in a web page called Turnitin. Turnitin is a tecnology to improve writing student and also to check whether student copy and paste their assignment from internet or not.




In most case, plagiarism can be avoided though citing the original sources. Plagiarism can be prevented by simply acknowledging that certain material has been borrowed and providing the readers with the necesarry information find that source is usually enough to prevent plagiarism .

How to prevent plagiarism

Paraphrasing - express the meaning of ( the writer of speaker or something written or spoken) using 
                         different words, especially to achieve greater clarity.

Referencing- Provide ( a book or article) with citation of authorities.

Planning your paper:
 1. consult your instructor/ lecture
 2.  taking effective note. 
  - try to using different coloured fonts, pens or pencils for each one.
 - record bibliographic information or web addresses 

Writing your paper :
 1. cite sources
  -  use the quote exactly the way it arise when quoting a sources.
                                   
  2. make it clear who said what
   -always make sure to differentiate 
 -give credit to right person.
                                   
 3. know how to paraphrase
 -change both word and sentence without changing the meaning of  sentence.
                                    
  4. include a reference page
   -at the end of your paper, be sure to put the reference page to avoid plagiarism.
 - check and edit your research paper before submitting it.

Step to paraphrasing
  •  reword : place words by using synonyms.
  •  rearrange : active to passive, passive to active
  • rechange: make sure the meaning is same as original topic.

1. Exercising is very positive for the immune system. People should exercise at least three times a week.
       paraphrasing :
 1. Exercise gives advantages to immune system. It should be done at least three  times a week.
 2. Our immune system will get benefit when we exercise. It is  recommended to be performed three times a week.
                                                                                                                
 2. Students must be given freedom to use their mobile phone in the classroom. It can be used as   learning tool for the students to do research for extra notes or explanation.
     
paraphrasing :Pupils  must be allow to use their mobile phone in the classroom because given  advantages to students to do a research for extra notes or explanation.
                                                                                                                

Step to referencing
  - include a reference page or page word cited at the end of your paper.
  - look for APA 6th formatting style
  -refer to lecture for the  turnitin account to assess your paraphrasing.
  - be sure to edit your research paper carefully and check for plagiarism before submitting it.

Calculating Grade Point Average

GPA ( Great Point Average)

 calculated average of the letter grade  a student earns in each semester following the 0-4.0 scale.

CGPA ( Cumulative Grade Point Average)

 Average of Grade Point obtained in all subject which includes dividing the number of quality points earned in all courses attempted by the total credit hours in all attempted courses. 

ICGPA ( Integrated Cumulative Grade Point Average)
A system for assessing and reporting learner’s integrated development and learning gains of their ADAB (ethics and values), their declarative and functional knowledge and their disciplinary skills and technical abilities.

8.what does Amelia have to do in order to achieve a GPA OG 3.00 2nd semester  if her CGPA falls below 2.50 in 1st semester?

she need score more in 2nd semester.
